Salwar Kameez terminology can be daunting, especially since every other seller seems to have different names for the same style of suit. Part of this has to do with the explosion in manufacturing and selling these suits outside the traditional region
of North India (Punjab). Hence what is really a Parallel suit can be called a Trouser Suit by some sellers,
Indo-West by others, and Pant Suits also! There are differences as outlined by the Pardesi Fashions Website:
Indo-West Fusion Suit - I am starting with this because all non-traditional salwar kameez are essentially Indo-West Fusion Suits.
View a Salwar Kameez and Churidar Salwar Kameez which can be considered
traditional in the sense that Salwar Kameez design have been around for
thousands of years and the Churidar for almost as long. Any other pant style Indian suit can be considered Indo-West Fusion because
it is a blend of Indian aesthetics and Western style cut. View an Indo-West Fusion Suit.
There are differences in Indo-West Fusion suits however, which are outlined below.
-
Parallel Suit - This is the original Indo-West Fusion suit. It features a top that can end anywhere from below
the knee to the waist or midriff. A parallel suit is distinguished by the fact that the lower leg is essentially
as wide as the upper leg or wider, creating a flared lower leg/ankle look similar to FLARE or BOOTCUT pants you see in the West.

-
Trouser Suit and Pant Suits - These really are the same thing. They should be classified by the
fact that their pants are more like a traditional Western pant or trouser. While they can have a
slightly larger ankle they should not be wide enough to be considered FLARED or BOOTCUT.
